Ultimate Salted Caramel Pretzel Brownie Bars

  • Author: Daphne
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 12 bars 1x

Description

Decadent brownies topped with luscious salted caramel and crunchy pretzel crumble, creating the ultimate sweet-and-salty treat perfect for parties or indulgent moments.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (85g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, cubed
  • ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream, warm
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 cup (100g) crushed pretzels
  • ½ cup (85g) chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the brownies fudgy.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with only a few crumbs (not wet batter). Let cool completely.
  5. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar until it turns a deep amber color. Stir constantly to avoid burning. Add butter and whisk until fully melted. Slowly pour in the warm cream, whisking continuously. Stir in sea salt and let the caramel cool slightly.
  6. Pour the cooled caramel over the brownie base, spreading it evenly using a spatula. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set.
  7. Sprinkle crushed pretzels and chocolate chips over the caramel layer, pressing gently to adhere.
  8. Use the parchment paper to lift the bars out of the pan. Slice into squares or rectangles and serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

[‘Don’t rush the caramel; keep the heat on medium and stir constantly to prevent burning.’, ‘Avoid overbaking the brownies for a fudgy texture.’, ‘Crush pretzels evenly using a rolling pin or food processor.’, ‘Refrigerate the bars before slicing for clean cuts.’, ‘Double the caramel for extra indulgence.’]
