Description
A quick and easy recipe that combines tender beef, chewy noodles, and the distinct peppery sweetness of Thai basil with a hint of heat from chili. Perfect for busy weeknights when you want big flavor without much effort.

- 1 lb thinly sliced flank steak or sirloin
- 8 oz wide rice noodles (or lo mein/spaghetti as substitute)
- 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1–2 red chilies or 1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- Optional: 1 cup bell peppers, snap peas, or carrots (sliced)
Instructions
- Boil a large pot of water and cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for tender bites. Set aside.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the sliced beef to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same wok, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Toss in optional veggies (if using) and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
- Return the beef to the wok and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and chili flakes. Stir well to combine.
- Add the cooked noodles to the wok and toss everything together until the noodles are coated evenly with the sauce.
- Stir in the Thai basil leaves and cook for another minute until wilted.
- Serve immediately, garnished with extra basil or chili slices if desired.
