  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and easy recipe that combines tender beef, chewy noodles, and the distinct peppery sweetness of Thai basil with a hint of heat from chili. Perfect for busy weeknights when you want big flavor without much effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb thinly sliced flank steak or sirloin
  • 8 oz wide rice noodles (or lo mein/spaghetti as substitute)
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 12 red chilies or 1 tsp chili flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Optional: 1 cup bell peppers, snap peas, or carrots (sliced)

Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of water and cook the rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Slice the beef thinly against the grain for tender bites. Set aside.
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced beef to the wok and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same wok, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Toss in optional veggies (if using) and stir-fry for 2 minutes.
  6. Return the beef to the wok and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, brown sugar, and chili flakes. Stir well to combine.
  7. Add the cooked noodles to the wok and toss everything together until the noodles are coated evenly with the sauce.
  8. Stir in the Thai basil leaves and cook for another minute until wilted.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with extra basil or chili slices if desired.

Notes

[‘Prep all ingredients ahead of time to avoid scrambling during cooking.’, ‘Use high heat for stir-frying to achieve the best flavor and texture.’, ‘Taste and adjust seasoning before serving for a perfect balance of flavors.’, ‘If noodles stick together, add a splash of water or extra sauce to loosen them.’]
