Description
This Garlic Butter Tilapia recipe captures all the magic of a gourmet dinner without the hassle. It’s quick, easy, and packed with buttery richness and bright citrus flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 tilapia fillets (fresh or frozen, thawed if needed)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lemon (juice and zest)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional: thyme or rosemary
Instructions
- Pat the tilapia fillets dry with a paper towel and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- Place your skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil is shimmering, it’s ready for the fish.
- Add the fillets to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove tilapia from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the butter to the skillet. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
- Stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and chopped parsley. If you’re using other herbs like thyme or rosemary, add them now too.
- Return the cooked tilapia to the skillet and spoon the garlic butter sauce over the fillets. Let them simmer in the sauce for 1-2 minutes to soak up the flavors.
- Transfer the tilapia to a plate and drizzle the remaining sauce on top. Garnish with extra parsley or lemon slices for presentation.
Notes
[‘Don’t overcrowd the pan; cook the fillets in batches if needed.’, ‘Use fresh garlic for a more robust flavor.’, ‘Avoid overcooking the fish to prevent dryness.’, ‘Flip the fillets gently to keep them intact.’, ‘Taste and adjust the sauce before serving.’]
