Description
Golden, crispy cauliflower bites coated in a sticky sweet chili sauce, perfect as a healthy snack or appetizer. Made easily in an air fryer for a guilt-free indulgence.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into bite-sized florets
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (use gluten-free flour if needed)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup milk (use dairy-free milk for vegan option)
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, use maple syrup for vegan option)
- 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust based on spice preference)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the cauliflower thoroughly. Cut it into bite-sized florets, aiming for even sizes to ensure they cook uniformly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly until you have a smooth batter.
- Place the panko breadcrumbs in a separate shallow bowl.
- Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then, roll the floret in the panko breadcrumbs until covered. Shake off any excess crumbs.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Arrange the coated florets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking. Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bites are golden and crispy.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, honey, and sriracha. Heat until bubbling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
- Once the cauliflower bites are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl and pour the sweet chili sauce over them. Toss gently to coat each piece evenly. Serve immediately for the best crunch!
