  • Author: Daphne
  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Description

This Easy Meatball Sub Pasta Bake is the ultimate comfort food for cozy nights, combining juicy meatballs, zesty marinara, and gooey cheese in a casserole form.

Ingredients

  • Cooked pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • Marinara sauce
  • Meatballs (frozen or homemade, fully cooked)
  • Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • Garlic powder
  • Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil penne or rigatoni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and toss with a drizzle of olive oil to prevent sticking.
  3. Prepare the meatballs. If using frozen meatballs, heat them according to the package instructions. If using homemade ones, ensure they’re fully cooked.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with marinara sauce, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well-coated.
  5. Spread half of the pasta mixture into the bottom of the baking dish. Add a layer of meatballs, then sprinkle with half the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  6. Add the remaining pasta mixture on top, followed by another layer of meatballs. Sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly over the top.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let the bake cool for a few minutes before serving. Sprinkle fresh basil on top for an optional burst of flavor.

Notes

For a crispy topping, broil the casserole for the last 2-3 minutes of baking. Add breadcrumbs for extra crunch or drizzle balsamic glaze for a unique twist.
